Chapter II · The Maison
From a modest workshop on Rue de Sèvres to the private nurseries of crowned houses — the bench has never moved. The wood, the hand, the mark remain.
Atelier Lavandou · 7e Arrondissement, Paris
1887
Maison Lavandou opens its first atelier on Rue de Sèvres, with seven artisans and a single commission for the House of Bonaparte.
1923
Granted by Her Majesty Queen Marie of Romania. Our heirloom rocking horse enters the royal nursery at Peles Castle.
1968
One hundred years of trade. The maison is invited to exhibit at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs — its first public showing.
Today
Master craftswoman Élise Lavandou carries the bench forward — every piece still signed, numbered, and crafted by hand.
Chapter III
Every rocking horse requires 240 hours at the bench. Every porcelain companion passes through eleven artisans before it bears the Lavandou mark. We do not release a piece we would not give to our own children.
